- La Presse + writes that researchers at Concordia participated in a thirty-year demographic study of impoverished school-aged children in Quebec. Starting in 1976, researchers with the 'Concordia Longitudinal Risk Project' identified 1770 children from poor neighbourhoods, 503 of whom have since been found again and their progress tracked by Concordia Centre for Research in Human Development (CRDH) professors Lisa Serbin and Dale Stack and psychology professor emeritus Alex Schwartzman, led by UQAM psychology professor Marie-Hélène Véronneau. The researchers found that the children, products of Quebec's 'Révolution tranquille', were better-educated than their parents and conclude that such social gains are threatened by education cuts. The study, published in the journal Development and Psychopathology (UK) is also reported byAMEQ en ligne.
