Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:
- MontrealNews.net posts a link to an earlier CBC text story reporting the creation of a new scholarship fund for Syrian refugees coming to Canada. The article refers to an interview of Vice-President, Development and External Relations and Secretary-General Bram Freedman on CBC Montreal Radio's Homerun (MP3 attached). In the interview, Freedman says Chancellor Jonathan Wener has made a personal pledge of $50,000 to help expand Concordia's previously-announced Syrian refugee assistance initiative to offer scholarships to at least five Syrian refugees. Freedman also discusses the initiative in an interview with Global News Montreal, scheduled to air later this month.
- The Université de Montréal student paper Quartier Libre mentions Concordia's partnership in the Quartier de l'innovation in an article about the recent McGill Innovation Week.
- A La Presse + article laments the fact that none of the movie theatres that stopped operating since the 1980s in Montreal were preserved. On the tablet version, the text is accompanied by a picture of Concordia’s EV Building, which stands where the York movie theater used to be.
