Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:
- Concordia, Bishop's and HEC are featured in an article in La Presse + and LaPresse.ca about the institutions' efforts to give a number of Syrian refugees a new start in Canada. It describes Concordia's initiative, announced in October, to accept two Syrian students free of tuition and reports that Concordia is poised to announce the creation of a Chancellor's fund to support first-generation students. It reports further that Chancellor Jonathan Wener, CEO of Canderel and a Sir George Williams University alumnus (BComm, 1971), has made a personal donation of $50,000 to the fund to finance the enrollment at Concordia of at least another three Syrian refugees. Bram Freedman, Vice-President, Development and External Relations and Secretary-General, is quoted.
- Concordia's Right to the City program is featured in a piece in the Montreal Gazette and the paper's e-edition. The program includes four history and arts-related courses taught by four different Concordia professors, based in the Share the Warmth community services organization in Pointe-Saint-Charles. Kathleen Vaughan, an associate professor in the Department of Art Education, teaching assistant Dane Stewart and Right to the City student Kelly Norah Drukker are quoted in and pictured for the article.
- A posting on Droit-Inc to fill a position at Aligo Innovation lists Concordia among the partnering institutions in Aligo, a university technology transfer office that commercializes and seeks to increase the value of its members' intellectual property assets.
