Various issues concerning Concordia University are often reported on by news outlets. Here is the most recent coverage pertaining to the institution:

  • Turkish journalist Amberin Zaman was interviewed on Radio Canada International about media freedom and democracy in Turkey as she prepared for an appearance last evening at Concordia alongside Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS). The event, Threats, Risks, Freedoms: A Conversation About Journalism and Human Rights, was co-hosted with the International Press Institute as part of Concordia's Thinking Out Loud series.  La Presse + and Le Devoir (front page) feature Zaman, who offers her perspective on the fight against ISIS and the need for Turkey to get more involved in resisting growing radicalization, particularly of Western youth. The articles also mention the journalist's appearance at Concordia, last evening. Zaman was interviewed on CJAD’s Tommy Schnurmacher Show ahead of last night’s event. She was also joined by Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) for an interview on CTV Montreal News.
  • A CNW release announces that Mel Hoppenheim, founder and president of Mel's Cité du Cinéma and noted Concordia donor, will be invested into the Order of Canada at a ceremony in Ottawa, tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Concordia's Department of Cinema was renamed the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema to mark the philanthropists's generosity toward the university.
  • MaTV, posting two separate articles about social economy enterprises — not-for-profit companies engaged in community-based work — lists Concordia among universities offering social economy programs. Read the first article here and the second here.
