- Le Journal de Montréal reports that the RCMP and the CIA are keeping close watch on a lab at Concordia, where it says researchers have found a way to make heroin from brewer's yeast. The article quotes biology professor Vincent Martin, who calls for regulatory action to prepare for the eventual manufacture of synthetic heroin. The article relates to studies published earlier this year, co-authored by Martin and researchers from the University of California, Berkeley.
- The Health Site and University Herald join the media reporting on the work of researchers from Concordia, Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal and the Montreal Chest Institute, led by Simon Bacon, a professor in the Department of Exercise Science, who found that a 12-week supervised aerobic exercise program for asthma patients gave significant results in asthma control.
