  • The Montreal Gazette writes about 'Gender, Typicality and Development', a gender conference and webinar of academics and medical experts, being hosted by Concordia today, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Loyola Jesuit Hall and Conference Centre. Three Concordia academics and conference participants are quoted: Psychology professor and director of the Centre for Research in Human Development William Bukowski, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology Marc Lafrance and assistant professor in the School of Canadian Irish Studies Emer O'Toole. The online edition of the paper includes an on-camera interview with O'Toole, who talks about female body image and the pressure on women to keep their legs and armpits shorn. The conference is free and open to the public.
  • Connections Plus references a 2000 paper by then-Concordia sociology professor Anouk Bélanger on the competition that exists among sport venue operators to provide the most immersive spectator experience.
  • The news service of Ryerson University publishes a release announcing Closing Canada’s Big Data Talent Gap, a white paper produced by the Big Data Consortium. The paper is referenced by Academica, which links to the aforementioned release. The Big Data Consortium is an academic-industry research initiative, co-founded by Concordia.
