Researchers in the news
The scholarly work of Concordia faculty and researchers informs and improves society on many issues that affect our daily lives. Visit the Research section to read news stories involving research at Concordia, or read the most recent items here:
- Coverage continues of a study by Damon Matthews, Associate Professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, of the carbon deficit and resulting financial debts associated with climate change: VICE Motherboard, New Scientist, Clean Tech Canada and Nation Talk (linking back to the original Concordia release on the study). An article in Discovery News about renewable energy technology in India also links to the aforementioned Concordia release. Matthews' study was recently published in Nature Climate Change.
- The Montreal Gazette reports on a proposed project to turn the now-abandoned Voyageur bus terminal at de Maisonneuve and Berri into an indoor public market. It reports that the proposal includes a greenhouse and shows images by Andreas Athienitis, professor in the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering of what the greenhouse would look like. There is also a reference to the solar-energy technology used to power the MB Building, and a link to a release explaining the JMSB's building-integrated photovoltaic/thermal installation research and design project, led by Athienitis.
- Research by psychology professor Jim Pfaus on the effects of naturally produced dopamine is mentioned in an article in Bustle about the measurable benefits of orgasms.
