Researchers in the news
The scholarly work of Concordia faculty and researchers informs and improves society on many issues that affect our daily lives. Visit the Research section to read news stories involving research at Concordia, or read the most recent items here:
- Numerous media outlets examine a study by Damon Matthews, Associate Professor in the Department of Geography Planning and Environment, of the carbon and financial debts he says are associated with climate change: Inside Climate News, Laboratory Equipment, AZO Cleantech, Grist, Phys Org, Science Daily, What's Up With That?, eScience News, #FollowNews, #cdnpoli, and OOYUZ. Matthews' study was recently published in Nature Climate Change.
- Media continue to report on a 350-kilometre pilgrimage along Saskatchewan's North West Mounted Police Trail, in July and August, co-organized by Concordia lecturer Matthew Anderson, who studies pilgrimages and teaches the subject in the Department of Theological Studies: Anderson was interviewed for Saskatoon's CKOM Newstalk 650 (no link available) and was featured in a piece in The Gull Lake Advance and in a feature report on SWTV, Swift Current (the feature begins at the 2:54 mark).
- Orange (Mauritius) joins the many media outlets that have reported on Concordia research into how poor sleep might explain the impact of stress on a child's health. The study was led by graduate student and researcher Jinshia Ly, Jennifer McGrath, associate professor in the Department of Psychology and Jean-Philippe Gouin, assistant professor in the same department.
