Jim Pfaus, a professor in the Department of Psychology and researcher in the Center for Studies in Behavioral Neurobiology (CSBN), participated in a study of the side effects of Melanotan, a sunless tanning agent that was found to increase women's sexual desire. The discovery helped in the development by Sprout Pharmaceuticals of Addyi, the libido-enhancing drug for women.
Coverage appeared in LaPresse+ and MIT Technology Review. Pfaus was interviewed by CTV's Mutsumi Takahashi and was also on CTV's Canada AM, where he explained the workings and effects of the drug that has been dubbed the "pink pill".
