  • The Montreal Gazette and its e-edition publish an article on the release, by President Alan Shepard, of a report on how Concordia handles sexual violence complaints. The article says the Concordia report, ordered by Shepard last fall in the wake of numerous news accounts of sexual assault on other university campuses, puts forward numerous recommendations, including the development of a comprehensive education and training program on consent and sexual violence. Shepard is quoted throughout. The article also quotes from the report and its lead author, deputy provost Lisa Ostiguy, who chaired the Sexual Assault Policy Review Working Group. The article is reprised by Montreal News. Read the working group's full report.
  • The news service of Minnesota's St. Olaf College publishes a release announcing that President Alan Shepard, who obtained his BA from St. Olaf in 1983, will return to his alma mater September 25th to participate in a panel discussion of the future of higher education.
  • An article in The Globe and Mail about the decision by the Canadian Medical Association to divest its fossil fuel holdings includes a mention of Concordia's fossil fuel divestment policy, announced last fall. The article is reprised by 24news.ca.
  • Radio Canada International posts audio of an interview with Hejer Charf, producer of the documentary film Autour de Maïr, which tells the story of women in literature and focuses on feminist scholar Maïr Verthuy, cofounder and first director of the Simone de Beauvoir Institute. The text accompanying the interview mentions the world premiere screening of the documentary film, September 5th at 6:30 p.m. at the Quartier Latin cinema. Listen to the interview.
