  • Several media reprise a news release about Concordia research into undesirable side-effects from the use of a particular type of air filter in buildings. The paper, published by recent doctoral graduate Lexuan Zhong and her supervisor Fariborz Haghighat, a professor in the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering, describes how an air filter that uses photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) releases formaldehyde, a known carcinogen in humans. The study, which appeared in the journal Building and Environment, earned Zhong Concordia's doctoral dissertation prize last year. The news is covered by Science Newsline, Health Medicine Network, phys.org, (e)Science News, Azobuild, Business Standard, Can-India News and AMEQ en ligne (behind a paywall).
  • Strategy + Business writes about a study led by Benjamin Fung, former associate professor at the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering (now on faculty at McGill) and alumni Simon Li and Kamrun Nahar into how companies can use online customer reviews to gauge new products.
