Researchers in the news
The scholarly work of Concordia faculty and researchers informs and improves society on many issues that affect our daily lives. Visit the Research section to read news stories involving research at Concordia, or read the most recent items here:
- Millenium Post picks up an earlier story about a Concordia and Peking University study on how designers of shopping malls and other public places can encourage pedestrians to favour using stairs over escalators. The research was led by John Zacharias, while he was a faculty member in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, and psychology alumnus Richard Ling.
- Decibel Magazine runs an article by Vivek Venkatesh, associate professor in the Department of Education, who writes about Grimposium, a conference on extreme metal music being held from August 2 to 9 in Parc Jean Drapeau. Venkatesh mentions that last year's Grimposium, an event he created to further his academic research on the metal music genre, was funded almost entirely by Concordia.
