- Numerous media reprise or write about Concordia and Peking University research that shows people can be encouraged to make a healthy choice between taking the stairs an riding an escalator. Researchers, led by John Zacharias, who conducted the study while a faculty member in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, and psychology alumnus Richard Ling, found that more pedestrians chose the stairs when these were properly distanced from any escalators: Science Daily, Medical Xpress, Science World Report, Business Standard, Press-News, Journal Métro, La Tribune de Sherbrooke and fm93.com.
