Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director at the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) and Noah Schouela, a research fellow at MIGS, co-author an op-ed in the National Post about the recent “Oslo Conference on Safe Schools”, to protect places of learning from attack during armed conflict. Matthews and Schouela urge the federal government to campaign for broad western support for the safe-school initiative.
- Academica provides a link to an earlier op-ed in the Montreal Gazette by André Gagné, associate professor in the departments of Religion and Theological Studies. Gagné argues that education should be at the heart of Quebec's recently-unveiled anti-radicalization plan.
- Peter Jaskiewicz, associate professor in the Department of Management, is quoted in an earlier article reprised by America Retail (in Spanish) about a family member of Wal-Mart's founding Walton clan being named chairman of the international retail giant. The article notes that the new chairman, Greg Penner, married into the Walton family and is the first non-Walton to lead the company.
- Lisa Lynch, associate professor in the Department of Journalism, is quoted in an article in Net News Checkabout the launch by La Presse, two years ago, of its La Presse Plus tablet app.
- Yakub Halabi, a research associate at the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies, writes an opinion piece ini24News about the need for Israel's foreign policy to evolve to meet new political challenges.
- Guylaine Vaillancourt, associate professor in the Department of Creative Arts Therapies, is featured in an article in France Musique about which instrument to choose when initiating a child to music.
