  • A study on how the body's circadian rhythm and how our internal clock can be adjusted, is named "Editor's Choice" by the journal Science Signaling. The lead authors of the study, which was published in Nature Neuroscience, are Shimon Amir, professor in the Department of Psychology, and McGill biochemistry professor Nahum Sonenberg.
  • Geog News, a University of Victoria publication, writes about the work of Jochen Jaeger, assistant professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, who has co-authored a study of ways to prevent accidental vehicle collisions with deer and other animals. The study was published in the Journal of Environmental Management.
  • The work of Georgios Vatistas, professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, on the calculation of vortices created by aircraft during takeoff, is mentioned in an article in Plein Vol, written by Isabel Dostaler, associate professor in the Department of Management. The Dostaler article itself focuses on air-travel fluidity. The Vatistas vortex study is mentioned as a tool that could be used to decrease takeoff distance between large planes, which in turn could improve travel fluidity by reducing waiting periods between takeoffs.
  • Buffalo News joins the hundreds of media outlets worldwide that have reported on the Concordia/Berkeley study co-authored by Vincent Martin, professor in the Department of Biology, on the creation of genetically modified yeast that can be used to make opiate drugs.
  • Passion Santé writes about a study conducted by Jim Pfaus, professor in the Department of Psychology, and Nicole Prause, an associate research scientist in UCLA's Department of Psychiatry. The research contradicts earlier claims that the more erotica men watch, the likelier they are to experience erectile problems.
  • Axel Bergman, manager of research development at the PERFORM Centre, appears on Radio-Canada's RDI Matin Weekend to discuss research into arthritis, particularly in the management of arthritis through exercise. The segment begins at the 2:10 mark.
  • Le Devoir publishes an article about the publication of a French-language version of An Illustrated History of Quebec: Tradition and Modernity, co-authored by Peter Gossage, professor in the Department of History, and Jack Little of Simon Fraser University.
