Montreal hosts the Formula One Grand Prix June 7 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. More than a car race, the event brings a significant influx of wealthy tourists to the city and increases its recognition internationally.

Newly re-elected FIFA president Sepp Blatter has resigned saying the organization needs profound restructuring. The world soccer's governing body is in the grips of an investigation of top officials on charges of racketeering, money laundering and tax evasion.
