Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:
- CBC.ca posts links to the "St-Henri Chronicles". It is a series of articles resulting from a collaboration between the Department of Journalism and CBC Montreal. Graduate-level students were assigned to produce original multimedia reports about the St-Henri neighbourhood for their final class project: Three men and a micro-neighbourhood, by Kathryn Jezer-Morton; Goalball: More than a sport, by Samuel Rancourt; St-Henri reintegration program gives women new start, by Miriam Barchilón, Antoni Nerestant and Amie Watson; TRAC workers improving life in St-Henri, 1 person at a time, by Chelsea Berne and Olivia Jones; St-Henri's field of dreams, by Tim Lazier and Kurt Weiss; and Home of the Victrola: Hidden gem of St-Henri, by Felicia Parrillo and Kate Sheridan.
- Intertek Group PLC posts a release announcing that mechanical engineering student Stacey Smolash is one of five students who have selected to receive a scholarship of up to $10,000 and a paid internship.The program supports undergraduate students pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering and math in the U.S. and Canada. The release is picked up by Digital Journal, 4-traders and TMCnet.com.
- Philosophy doctoral candidate Natalie Fletcher is interviewed on Radio Canada International about a Brila day camp she helped found at Concordia. It is a philosophy camp that provides children with an opportunity to ask and discuss such questions as "why do humans wage war", "what does 'being normal' mean" and "what is reality". - A text story on radio-canada.ca about three generations of a family who fled Saigon when it fell to Communist forces, forty years ago, mentions that all eight children of the family in question obtained university degrees in Montreal, including one from Concordia.
- The Université de Montréal news service announces the winners of the Concours universitaire Ubisoft/Game Lab Competition 2015. Among them are the Skwids Studio team, which includes Concordians Matthew Fernandes, Philip Figiel and Romina Rabti Zolpirani.
- In her latest entry in the lifestyle blog NaNa Toulouse, Communication student Emmanuelle Côté writes about a recent "girls-only" pajama party movie night at Montreal's "Imperial Theatre".
- Full-time student Sloane Montgomery writes an article for Mtl Blog about where to find what are deemed the best macaroons in Montreal.
- Creative writing student Caitlin Marceau writes a piece for Mtl Blog listing ten places to buy affordable organic food in Montreal this summer. The listing includes Concordia's Farmer's Market, Wednesday afternoons, on the second floor of the Hall Building (summer only).
