Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- History professor Frank Chalk, director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights (MIGS), is interviewed on camera on CTV News Channel. Chalk discusses the Turkish government's refusal to formally recognize the 1915 mass murders of Armenians as a genocide.
- Patrick Leroux, associate professor in the Department of English and the Département d'études françaises and founding director of the Montreal Working Group on Cirque/Circus, was interviewed by Jeanette Kelly on the CBC Radio program Cinq à Six, on Saturday. Leroux talked about the sale of Cirque du Soleil (no link available).
- Z digital (in Spanish) reprises an earlier release announcing a talk by Catherine Vallejo, professor in the Department of Classics, Modern Languages, and Linguistics (CMLL), at a recent symposium on gender literature, in the Dominican Republic.
- The Manila Times quotes management professor Gary Johns in an article about the phenomenon of "presenteeism", where people who are ill create a productivity problem by reporting for work despite their illness.
- iPolitics (behind a paywall) features an article about the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies launching an online anti-radicalization project.
- The Ottawa Star reprises an opinion piece, originally in The Globe and Mail, co-authored by Kathleen O'Grady, research associate at the Simone de Beauvoir Institute, and University of Ottawa professor Colleen M. Flood. The piece is about a legal challenge, to be heard by the B.C. Supreme Court, of surcharging by private clinics.
- A Montreal Gazette calendar of events includes a mention of the Celtic MTL 2015 convention, May 2nd and 3rd, at the EV Building and the DeSève Cinema (LB Building). Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies, will be an MC. The calendar is reprised by 24news.ca.
