Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- The Montreal Gazette publishes an opinion piece by Kyle Matthews, Senior Deputy Director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. Matthews calls on Turkey to officially recognize the mass murder of 1.5-million Christian Armenians under the Ottoman Empire as a genocide. Armenians are commemorating the one-hundredth anniversary of the genocide. The piece is reprised in The Province.
- Le Presse + reprises an earlier article from Les Affaires that quotes accountancy professor Michael Magan about the announcement by the government of Québec of an in-depth study of the economic impact on Montreal of the Canadian Grand Prix race.
- Troy Media and National Newswatch reprise an opinion piece co-authored by Kathleen O'Grady, research associate at the Simone de Beauvoir Institute, and University of Ottawa professor Colleen M. Flood. It concerns a legal challenge, to be heard by the B.C. Supreme Court, of surcharging by private clinics. The authors say the case, expected to be heard in the fall, could affect how all Canadians access health care. The piece originally appeared in The Globe and Mail.
