150th Anniversary of the Surrender of Robert E. Lee
This week marks the 150th anniversary of Robert E. Lee’s surrender, which led to the end of the American Civil War. Some media outlets, like the New Republic, are calling for the anniversary to become a National Holiday in the U.S. Graham Dodds, associate professor in the Department of Political Science, and Gavin Taylor, senior lecturer and associate chair, in the Department of History can talk about the American Civil War and how race relations in the U.S. are still a challenge.
