- Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director and lead researcher at the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights (MIGS), is quoted on CBC.ca and Radio-Canada.ca about a letter to members of the Quebec National Assembly in which Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Canada complains of Quebec interference in Saudi affairs. The letter, dated March 10, was a response to Quebec government criticism of the jailing and torture of Saudi blogger Raif Badawi. The 32-year-old blogger, openly critical of religious authorities in his country, was tried and sentenced to 10 years, 1,000 lashes and a fine equivalent to $287,000.
