Students

Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:

  • La Presse writes about JMSB student Anthony Esposito and the day he spent with SAQ CEO Alain Brunet during a recent "CEO for a Day" mentoring event. Earlier reports about the mentoring project mentioned two other Concordians who had been selected to spend a day with a CEO: Jesse Carmichael, paired with VIA Rail CEO Yves Desjardins, and Michael Vasili Richardson, paired with Ubisoft CEO Yannis Mallat.
  • Le Journal de Montreal and Le Journal de Québec publish a brief announcing the winners of the 2015 Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Fellowship in Contemporary Art: Concordia's Velibor Božović and UQAM's Myriam Jacob-Allard, both Master's graduates. Božović, a photographer, also obtained his BFA from Concordia and is a previous winner of the Concordia International Mobility Award. Jacob-Allard, a multimedia artist, is a former Concordia student (BFA, studio arts, 2009). The brief includes photos of the winners flanked by Claudine and Stephen Bronfman. President Alan Shepard and Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Catherine Wild are also pictured.
  • LaPresse.ca picks up an earlier opinion piece by Montreal philanthropists Claudine and Stephen Bronfman about their motivation for funding the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Fellowships in Contemporary Art. They have funded the fellowships since 2010.
  • The McGill University publication McGill Reporter runs an interview with noted disability rights advocate Laurence Parent, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Humanities. The introduction to the interview mentions that Parent is currently working with the m.i.a. collective – a group of researchers affiliated with Concordia’s Mobile Media Lab.
  • Jazz musicians Tihomir Kratsev and Félix Tellier-Pouliot, respectively winner and finalist in the Concordia Oscar Peterson Jazz Scholarship Competition, appear in the studios of Global Montreal television, and play some of their music. Yahoo posts a link to the television appearance. They start playing at around the half-way mark of the video file.
