  • Several media write about a study conducted by Jim Pfaus, professor in the Department of Psychology, and Nicole Prause, an associate research scientist in UCLA's Department of Psychiatry, that debunks clinical claims and observations that the more erotica men watch, the likelier they are to experience erectile problems. The study's authors conclude that viewing sexual films may even help sexual arousal. Reports about the study are carried by the Montreal Gazette, the Los Angeles Times, Health News Network, Deccan Chronicle, Business Standard, Yahoo, Le Journal de Montréal, Le Journal de Québec, Canoe and TVA.
  • NBC News.com, Daily Mail Online, Mashable, Discovery News, Archeology and Yahoo pick up an earlier story about the work of doctoral candidate and lecturer in the Department of Religion, Brice Jones, who has deciphered an ancient Egyptian receipt for what appears to be an exorbitant land-transfer tax. Jones was interviewed about the ancient tax receipt this morning on the CJAD morning show. To listen to the interview, scroll down the page to the Audio Highlights and click on Ancient Tax.
  • Psych Central is the latest to report on a Concordia study, published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, that uncovers a new way of predicting which individuals are most likely to suffer from insomnia based on a particular pattern of brain waves. The study was led by Thien Thanh Dang-Vu, professor in the Department of Exercise Science.
  • HR Executive Online and Health Canal write about a study on workplace dynamics whose authors, management professor Gary Johns and Usman Raja, an associate professor at Brock University, demonstrate that supervisors are able to tell employees who work to benefit an employer from those motivated more by self-interest.
  • Art history professor Loren Lerner is interviewed for Jerusalem Wordpress about her Concordia course ‘The City of Jerusalem: Ideas and Images’. The article includes the course syllabus.
