  • Caroline Fitzpatrick, postdoctoral researcher at the PERFORM centre, and Carolyn Côté-Lussier, a postdoctoral fellow in the International Centre for Comparative Criminology at Université de Montréal, co-author an opinion piece in the Montreal Gazette on what they say was the preventable death of 41-year old Alain Magloire, a homeless man who was shot and killed by Montreal police in February, 2014 after he smashed a window near a downtown bus terminal. The authors call on experts conducting an inquiry into the shooting to consider the full range of factors that may come into play when police respond to crisis situations, notably those involving people with mental-health problems.
  • ITR News, reporting on an upcoming France-Quebec school event involving digital technology mentions the participation of Alexandre Enkerli, part-time instructor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, in a trans-Atlantic round-table discussion of the place of digital technology in the classroom. The event, involving high-school students, takes place Thursday.
  • The Ball State Daily News, the student newspaper of Ball State University, Indiana, announces that Guy Lachapelle, professor in the Department of Political Science and Secretary General of the International Political Science Association, was to speak yesterday at Ball State about how political science has developed globally.
