Mohamed Fahmy retrial

Jailed journalist released on bail

Mohamed Fahmy, a Canadian journalist with Al-Jazeera, will be released on bail after spending more than 400 days in an Egyptian prison. The news came at the start of the retrial of Fahmy and a colleague on terrorism-related charges. The Fahmy case stands as an example of the risks many journalists face covering news in certain countries.

Alan Conter, a lecturer in the Department of Journalism, can address these risks.
