Legacy of Jean Béliveau

Jean Béliveau has died at the age of 83. The hockey legend will be remembered as much for his talent on the ice as his grace off the ice. As team captain, Béliveau led the Montreal Canadiens to ten Stanley Cup victories. In an extraordinary move by the Hockey Hall of Fame, Béliveau was immediately inducted upon his retirement from play. He went on to oversee another seven Stanley Cup wins as a member of the Canadiens management team. But Béliveau also received exceptional civic honours including being the rare sports figure granted honorary doctorates from a number of universities including Concordia.

Bruno Delorme, a lecturer in the Department of Marketing at the John Molson School of Business can analyze Béliveau’s enduring legacy.
