Le Pont Maurice-Richard?

Name of replacement to Champlain bridge

News reports have surfaced indicating the new link to Montreal’s South Shore that will replace the Champlain bridge could be named after hockey great Maurice “the Rocket” Richard. December 9 is the date the federal government will announce the official name, fueling further speculation since Richard’s jersey bore the number nine. Ronald Rudin, professor in the Department of History can comment on the controversy surrounding the naming of the new bridge.
