Controversy surrounding gamer culture

Journalist Leigh Alexander has been attacked on social media by video gamers for her negative critique of gaming culture. Observers of the heated discussions on the issue believe Alexander was targeted because of an enduring misogyny in gaming culture. Mia Consalvo, a gamer, designer and researcher on video games, and professor in the Department of Communication Studies, spoke out about how GamerGate has affected her in this article in Newsweek. She is prepared to share her views on the current controversy surrounding gamer culture.
