Could the pavement heat up in downtown Montreal?

The idea would be to keep the sidewalks free of snow and ice to make the shopping strip more enticing to pedestrians in the winter. Michelle Nokken, a professor in the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering can offer expertise on how heated sidewalks would affect the durability of concrete.
