Researchers identify the brain's GPS

A trio of researchers from Britain and Norway has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of what is being termed “the brain’s GPS”. The team identified “place cells” or “grid cells” which make it possible for our brains to work out where we are. James Pfaus, a professor in the Department of Psychology, can comment on what this means to the field of neurobiology.
