Expert commentators
Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:
- Viviane Namaste, professor in the Simone de Beauvoir Institute, appeared on CTV News at noon with Paul Karwatsky to discuss her art project on the hidden history of Montreal's red light district.
Kyle Matthews, senior deputy director of the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies, appeared on CTV News (appearance at 45 seconds) in a segment about Ukraine’s referendums. Matthews was also interviewed by La Presse+ (video viewable by subscription only) about what lessons we can learn from the Rwandan genocide.
- The Rumps publishes an article about a symposium presented by Ariela Freedman, associate professor in the Liberal Arts College, about a performance piece by a young German Jewish woman named Charlotte Solomon, which tells the story of a German Jewish family and a heroine who chooses life over suicide, and art over death.
- The Canadian Jewish News publishes a story about an international conference on Jewish-Canadian literature and culture at the University of Lodz. The article mentions that Sherry Simon, professor in the Département d’études françaises, was the keynote speaker at the event and Norman Ravvin, chair in Canadian Jewish Studies, was a co-organizer of the event.
