- Research conducted by Marc Lafrance, professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, in collaboration with Lori Burns, music professor at the University of Ottawa, investigates whether Lady Gaga’s representation of race and disability are on par with her subversive representation of gender and sexuality. By investigating her two more popular videos, “Telephone” and “Paparazzi”, their research found that while the work defies mainstream expectations of gender and sexuality, its representations of race and disability remain very much the norm. Their research appears in Le Journal de Montréal. The press release also appears in World News, Gossipler, Newsfiber and Kontactor.
