Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • The Toronto Star reports on the impact that the broadcasting deal between the National Hockey League and Rogers Communications will have on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada and quotes Bruno Delorme, instructor in the Department of Marketing.

  • La Presse publishes an op-ed written by Viviane Namaste, professor in the Simone de Beauvoir Institute and the Concordia Research Chair in HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health, about World AIDS Day.

  • The Montreal Gazette publishes an article about the rising value of Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency that is worth 75 times today what it was worth last year, and the founding of the Bitcoin Embassy in Montreal. Jeremy Clark, professor in Concordia’s Institute for Information Systems Engineering, is quoted in the article. The article is reprised by The Province and Press Display.

  • The Sault Star publishes an op-ed written by Karl Hele, professor of First Peoples Studies in the School of Community and Public Affairs, that discusses the Anishinaabeg and Metis, under the leadership of Shingwaukonce and Nebenagoching, who forced the evacuation of an illegal mine in Mica Bay over 150 years ago. Hele places this within the context of the Mi’Kmaq First Nations from Elsipogotog, New Brunswick who, in mid-October, refused to remove a blockade in protest against shale gas exploration on their lands.

  • The Montreal Gazette publishes an article about the effect Bill 60 will have on education and teachers and Abe Worenklein, instructor in the Department of Psychology, is quoted.
