Students in the news

Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:

  • The Globe and Mail interviews Gurbaj Multani, a student in the Department of Accountancy, who has his name on a 2006 Supreme Court of Canada ruling that allowed him, and other Sikh students across Canada, to wear a kirpan, a ceremonial dagger, to school. During the interview Multani speaks about the Government of Quebec’s proposed Charter of Values and how he may leave the province because of it. The article is reprised by The Daily Me.

  • During last night’s Canadiens-Oilers game, Adam Nugent Hopkins, brother of star Edmonton Oilers players Ryan Nugent Hopkins, was shown in the crowd wearing his Concordia Stingers cap and it was announced that he is currently playing for the Concordia Stingers hockey team. It was shown during the second period at 13:10: RDS (no link available).

  • Le Charlevoisien publishes an article about the filming of the short-film Un homme et son passé. Luc Proulx, one of the actors in the film, mentions that he is used to working on short-films since he has worked on productions with Concordia film students.
