Expert commentators

Concordia faculty and researchers are regularly asked to offer expert, informed opinions on many of today's most pressing problems. Read some of the latest news items about Concordians:

  • The Globe and Mail features an article about Mindy Pollak, a 24-year-old Hasidic woman who is running for a borough seat for the opposition Projet Montréal party in Outremont. The article quotes Ira Robinson, professor in the Department of Religion and Interim director of the Institute for Canadian Jewish Studies, who says he has never heard of a Hasidic woman running for electoral office.

  • Times Live reports that a course at Olds College in Olds, Alberta is requiring students to completed an iPad game in which they open a virtual lemonade stand and gradually build it into a business empire. The article interviews Darren Wershler, professor in the Department of English, who uses video games as part of his contemporary Canadian fiction class and quotes Emma Healey, an English literature student who took Wershler’s course last year. The article is reprised by The Escapist.
