Music for the brain

Posted on May 16, 2013

Research conducted by Virginia Penhune, professor in the Department of Psychology and CRDH researcher, in collaboration with Robert Zatorre, a cognitive neuroscientist at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, is mentioned in Techno-Science. Their study suggests that musical training before age seven has a significant effect on the development of the brain, an effect substantial enough to be seen on a brain scan. Penhune and Zatorre are part of the Centre de recherché sur le cerveau, le langue et la musique (CRBLM).
