American publications cover Concordia research

Posted on September 15, 2011

The Atlantic and Time magazines are the latest publications to report that researchers from Concordia and Mount Allison University have found homeschooling — as long as it’s structured or follows a curriculum — can provide kids with an academic edge. Led by Sandra Martin-Chang, a professor in the Department of Education, the study established that homeschooled kids could gain a half-grade advantage in math and up to 2.2 grade levels in reading compared to their peers in the public education system. Coverage of this story also appeared on CJAD Radio on Tuesday morning.
