Georgette Duchaîne, who earned a master's degree at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, underwent a major operation for ovarian cancer and was in the throes of weekly chemo treatments when she began writing the screenplay for Coteau Rouge: The Victoria Times Colonist.
