Posted on September 9, 2011
A new study on the benefits of home schooling by Sandra Martin-Chang, a professor in the Department of Education who collaborated with colleagues from Mount Allison University, received national headlines. The research team found that children educated at home in a structured environment are on par, or even ahead, of their counterparts in the public education system when it comes to academic achievement. Coverage appeared across the PostMedia newspaper chain including The Globe and Mail, The Montreal Gazette, The Ottawa Citizen, The Edmonton Journal, The Calgary Herald, The Vancouver Sun, Victoria Times-Colonist as well as Canoe.ca, ScienceCodex.com and The Phoenix Examiner.
