A team of Concordia undergraduate students from the John Molson School of Business, consisting of Rini Karmaker, Nicolas Lindstrom, and Franco Perugini won first place at the Finance Society Case Competition, which is hosted annually by the University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management on March 8.

“What a performance!” exclaims coach Amr Ezzat. “It was one of the most remarkable presentations I've watched in my six years of coaching. There was so much depth and realism.”

“We were the returning champions,” he adds. “This was our fifth participation in the competition and our fifth podium.” Ezzat says that one of the judges called the team’s performance an “impressive show.”

Mark Haber, head coach and advisor to the competition program thinks Concordia’s historic success in the competition is in large part due to coaching. “Amr, Thomas Horvath and Reena Atanasiadis have been coaching our finance teams for the last five years. They are the one constant.”

Nine teams participated in the competition which consisted of a case on private equity for which they had three hours to prepare, followed by a 15-minute presentation and ten minutes of questions from the competition’s judges. Teams from the University of Ottawa took the second and third spots of the competition.

The John Molson Competition Committee would like to thank coaches Amr Ezzat, Thomas Horvath and Reena Atanasiadis for their tremendous work preparing the team for victory.

The JMCC also thanks Mark Haber, for his commitment and his contribution to the program.

The Committee would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Exclusive Title Partner PepsiCo Foods Canada, Premier Partners Pfizer CanadaMaxi and Power Corporation of Canada, Database Sponsor PODIO, and Associate Partner Canderel for their support and encouragement of the case competition program for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
