Michael Bellows, Alessandro Bisceglia, Maria Camila Rodriguez Estrada and Kamyar Khorasani were the undergraduate students who represented Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business at the University of Porto International Case Competition between October 21 and 25. The team finished second overall in the first international case competition ever to be held in Portugal.

The case study concerned EDP Renewables, a subsidiary of a major player in the European energy sector. Teams were given 40 hours to prepare their recommendations and 15 minutes to present them. An additional 15 minutes were allotted to questions and answers.

The firm’s CFO acted as a judge in the finals.  After the presentations were done students had the opportunity to ask him questions.
The final standings were:

  1. McGill University
  2. Concordia University
  3. University of Otago

The John Molson Case Competition Committee (JMCC) would like to thank coaches Nora Baronian and Amr Ezzat for guiding the team to such an impressive performance.

The JMCC also thanks Mark Haber, head coach and advisor to the Competition Program, for his boundless commitment.

The Committee would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Exclusive Partner PepsiCo Foods Canada, Premier Partner Pfizer Canada, Maxi, Power Corporation of Canada, and Database Sponsor PODIO for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
