Undergraduate students Alexandra Duffy, Ludovic Jacques and Dinos Papoulias represented Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business at the TD Financial Case Competition hosted by University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management and brought home the gold. JMSB has been participating in this competition for the last four years. This marks the fourth podium finish and the second gold for JMSB in that period.

The competition was held on March 1 and 2. On the first day, students were given a short term financial management case to resolve. Though individual rankings were not provided, JMSB finished in the top three. On the following day, the teams were dealt a case involving venture capital. It concerned a private equity firm faced with having to make a decision about an investment that went sour. The team from Concordia finished in first by what the head judge described as “a very large margin, outclassing all the other teams.”

The final rankings were:

  1. John Molson School of Business, Concordia University
  2. Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario
  3. University of Waterloo

Coach Amr Ezzat stated that “It was a lot of fun coaching this team. We met every weekend since our win at Battle on Bay Street and worked hard. They spared no effort and naturally knocked it out of the park."

The JMCC would like to thank Amr Ezzat for training the team, and Head Coach and Advisor to the Competition Program, Mark Haber for his support and dedication.

The team would also like to express its deepest gratitude to exclusive title partner Pfizer Canada for their support and encouragement of the case competition program.
