Five undergraduate students from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business (JMSB) participated in the 2013 EDGE Case Competition hosted by the University of Alberta on February 1 to 3. Erik Choquette, Jessalyn Hanna, James Malorni, Danny Shakibaian, and Valentine Vaillant were the JMSB representatives.

The top three teams in the competition were from the following universities:

  1. University of Alberta
  2. University of Calgary
  3. University of Western Ontario

The EDGE Case Competition follows a very different format from most competitions. Each team is given a case with an overview of a particular industry along with information that might help in resolving the case. Over the course of the case preparation period, new information is revealed which requires teams to adjust their recommendations accordingly.  By all accounts, the JMSB team rose to meet the challenges of the competition, making a number of important adjustments to their presentation.

The John Molson Competition Committee (JMCC) would like to thank coaches Chris Carpini and Anna Vinitskaia for their hard work and for designing the practice challenges used in the team’s preparation.

The JMCC would also like to extend a special thanks to Head Coach and Advisor to the Competition Program, Mark Haber, for his commitment and contribution to the program.
The Committee would also like to thank its exclusive sponsor Pfizer Canada for their support of the competition program.
