INVITED SPEAKER SEMINAR - Security Vulnerabilities in Configuration Scripts: Lessons Learned and Opportunities Moving Forward

Abstract
Configuration scripts are used to automatically manage computing infrastructure. Despite playing a pivotal role in setting up modern computing infrastructure, security vulnerabilities in configuration scripts can lead to serious consequences. As part of my presentation, I will discuss recent research efforts, what lessons we can learn, and the opportunities this domain presents.
Biography
Akond Rahman is an Assistant Professor at Auburn University. His research interests include DevOps and Secure Software Development. His research is sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), and the Griffiss Institute. He received his PhD from North Carolina State University. He won the Microsoft Open Source Challenge Award in 2016, the ACM SIGSOFT Doctoral Symposium Award at ICSE in 2018, and the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award at ICSE in 2019. He actively collaborates with practitioners from industry, such as practitioners from GitHub and WindRiver.
