Martin Lefebvre co-edits special issue of Mise au point on "Cliques and Quarrels in Film Theory”

Martin Lefebvre has co-edited (with Laurent Jullier, Université Paris 3/Université de Lorraine) issue #8 of Mise au Point (the online journal of L’Association française des enseignants et chercheurs en cinéma et audiovisuel), entitled “Chapelles et querelles des théories du cinéma” (“Cliques and Quarrels in Film Theory”)

Lefebvre and Jullier co-signed the issue’s introduction which investigates the disciplinary stakes of a critique of film studies today.

Lefebvre also edited and introduced a previously unpublished piece by renowned French film theorist Christian Metz and published an essay on a various epistemological questions raised by film theory (How is a critique of film theory possible? On what ground?, etc.). He also participated in a debate on Gender Studies in France with Geneviève Sellier, Maxime Cervulle, Marlène Coulomb-Gully and Laurent Jullier.

The issue features essays by Jullier and Jean-Marc Leveratto, Julien Lapointe (MHSoC doctoral student), Mathias Kusnierz, Hugo Clémot, Warren Buckland and Malcolm Turvey.
