The Kingston Prize, founded in 2005 to encourage and reward the creation of contemporary portraits by Canadian artists, is a biennial national competition for contemporary portraits of Canadians by Canadian artists.

Julian Brown, one of the organizers of the prize, notes that throughout the years, Concordia has been "a great source of young artists."

An exhibition of finalists will be shown at the Firehall Theatre in Gananoque, Ontario, October 4 to 20, 2013 and at the Art Gallery of Calgary from November 2 to December 21. The winner will be announced just prior to the Calgary exhibition on November 1.
