Fall 2026 slot course in Computer Science opens to eligible students

Interested in quantum information? Eligible undergraduate and graduate students can register for a special-topics course offered by the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering during the fall 2026 term.

Slot courses give students the opportunity to explore emerging and specialized topics beyond the department's regular curriculum.

COMP 691 – Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Information Theory
Instructor: Benjamin Lovitz
Mondays, 5:45 to 8:15 p.m.

Gain a mathematical introduction to quantum information theory. You'll learn the core concepts of quantum states, measurements and channels, and how they enable new ways of processing and transmitting information. The course also explores topics such as quantum communication, quantum learning and entanglement. Students will complete a final project.

This course is primarily available to students enrolled in programs in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.
