Annie Dubeau is Dean of the Faculty of Education at UQAM

The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Annie Dubeau, as well as alumna and psychologist Anick Laverdure (Psy.D. Psychology), are among the members of the board of directors of the Institut national d’excellence en éducation (INEE), whose launch was officially announced on April 1 by Quebec’s Minister of Education, Sonia LeBel.

A member of the Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP), Annie Dubeau is Dean of the Faculty of Education at Université du Québec à Montréal and was previously a full professor in the Département d'éducation et formation spécialisées (Department of Education and Specialized Training). She brings expertise in teacher education, vocational education, and student motivation.

The 13 members of the board were selected following a consultation process involving some fifty organizations representing Quebec’s education sector, in accordance with the Act respecting the governance of state-owned enterprises and the Act respecting the Institut national d’excellence en éducation.

The INEE will play a key role in implementing best practices in education, notably by ensuring that mandatory training for teachers remains up to date and responsive to students’ needs. In 2021, the Government of Quebec introduced a requirement for teaching staff to complete at least 30 hours of continuing education activities over a two-year period.

The board of directors will be primarily responsible for establishing the INEE’s strategic directions and adopting management frameworks to meet legislative requirements. It will also ensure the efficient management of resources.

More specifically, the board will ensure that the INEE fulfills its mandate by identifying priority topics in collaboration with education stakeholders. These topics will be the subject of syntheses of scientific knowledge on student success and well-being, which may lead to recommendations and the identification of best practices. These findings will also inform knowledge mobilization, training, and support activities.

La doyenne de la Faculté des sciences de l’éducation, Annie Dubeau, ainsi que la diplômée et psychologue Anick Laverdure (Psy.D. psychologie), figurent parmi les membres du conseil d’administration de l’Institut national d’excellence en éducation (INEE), dont le lancement a été officiellement annoncé le 1er avril par la ministre de l’Éducation du Québec, Sonia LeBel.

Membre du Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP), Annie Dubeau est doyenne de la Faculté des sciences de l’éducation de l’Université du Québec à Montréal et a auparavant été professeure titulaire au Département d'éducation et formation spécialisées (Department of Education and Specialized Training). Elle possède une expertise en formation à l’enseignement, en formation professionnelle et en motivation scolaire.

Les 13 membres du conseil d’administration ont été sélectionnés à la suite d’un processus de consultation mené auprès d’une cinquantaine d’organismes représentatifs du réseau de l’éducation au Québec, conformément à la Loi sur la gouvernance des sociétés d’État et à la Loi sur l’Institut national d’excellence en éducation.

L’INEE jouera un rôle déterminant dans la mise en œuvre des meilleures pratiques en éducation, notamment en s’assurant que les formations obligatoires des enseignantes et enseignants demeurent à jour et adaptées aux besoins des élèves. En 2021, le gouvernement du Québec a introduit l’obligation pour le personnel enseignant de suivre au moins 30 heures d’activités de formation continue sur une période de deux ans.

Le conseil d’administration aura principalement comme responsabilités d’établir les grandes orientations stratégiques de l’INEE et d’adopter les différents référentiels de gestion afin de répondre aux exigences législatives. Il veillera également à une gestion efficiente des ressources.

Plus précisément, le conseil d’administration s’assurera que l’INEE assume son mandat en identifiant, en collaboration avec les acteurs du milieu scolaire, des sujets prioritaires qui feront l’objet de synthèses de connaissances scientifiques portant sur la réussite éducative et le bien-être des élèves. Ces synthèses pourront mener à des recommandations et à l’identification des meilleures pratiques, et serviront également à orienter les activités de transfert des connaissances, de formation et d’accompagnement.
