The CSLP is pleased to highlight the return of the Grad Talks series, hosted by the Plurilingual Lab at McGill University, with the first session of the winter term taking place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. (EST).
The upcoming talk, Exploring the role of race and language in teacher education: A raciolinguistics framework for multilingual and professional identities of Ontario’s K–12 teacher candidates, will be presented by Tin Yuet (Tiffany) Tam, an MA student at the University of Toronto. Drawing on a raciolinguistics framework, Tam’s research examines how multilingual teacher candidates understand and negotiate their professional identities in relation to race, racialization, and language across coursework and practicum experiences.
Grad Talks is coordinated by CSLP member Angelica Galante and offers graduate students in language education and applied linguistics a supportive space to share work at any stage of their research, engage in discussion, and build scholarly community. Sessions are held online via Zoom and are not recorded.
The series is sponsored by the Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance and is co-organized by the BILD Research Group and McGill’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE).
