The Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP) is pleased to congratulate André Gagné, CSLP member and Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Theological Studies, on receiving the Excellence in Community Outreach & Public Engagement distinction as part of the 2024–2025 Dean’s Awards for Excellence from Concordia University’s Faculty of Arts and Science.
Awarded annually, the Dean’s Awards for Excellence recognize faculty and staff whose work reflects the faculty’s core values across research, teaching, mentorship, service, and outreach. This year’s cohort of awardees exemplifies a shared commitment to equity, inclusion, creativity, and meaningful engagement with communities within and beyond the university.
Professor Gagné was recognized for his extensive public scholarship and outreach, including more than 350 national and international media appearances, as well as for his transformative mentorship and impactful partnerships that contribute to the well-being and resilience of diverse communities. His work bridges academic research and public dialogue, bringing nuanced perspectives on religion, politics, and society into broader civic conversations.
A specialist in Global Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, religion and politics, evangelicalism, and the reception of the Bible, Professor Gagné’s teaching and research foreground the social and political dimensions of religious life. Through his writing, media engagement, and initiatives such as the Spirit, State, and Society podcast, he continues to foster informed, accessible, and critical public engagement on issues of global relevance.
The CSLP congratulates Professor Gagné on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates his ongoing contributions to community outreach, public scholarship, and interdisciplinary dialogue.
